Pupil Leadership Team
At St Giles, we are passionate about enabling our children to have the skills, confidence and ambition to become successful and responsible citizens who actively contribute to the world they live in. We believe that this begins at Primary School and we use our curriculum to help us deliver this. Part of this work is inspiring and promoting the leaders of tomorrow and here at school we have a Pupil Leadership Programme to do just this.
We are proud to present our Pupil Leadership Team of 2022 - 2023.....
Our Peer Tutors - these pupils help and support our younger children with their early reading. They read with their partnered children once a week and help them to develop their reading and fluency and comprehension.
Our Sports Ambassadors - these pupils help to develop our sports provision at breaktime and lunchtimes. They are currently busy of thinking of games and activities that children can complete in their breaks.
Our Subject Leaders - these pupils are our Pupil Subject Leaders and support our teachers with developing their subjects within the school. These children can be involved with learning walks, book looks, pupil interviews and events as well as bringing a child's view about how each subject can be made even better.
Our Healthy Eating Ambassadors - these pupils model healthy lifestyle choices to pupils, promote healthy lifestyle choices, including healthy lunches and support with healthy eating at lunchtimes.
Our Health and Safety Team - these children work alongside our Site Manager and Caretake to ensure that our school is always safe and well for children to learn effectively and be healthy whilst at school. These children can be involved in site walks, H&S inspections and looking at all aspects of our building from a child's perspective.
St Giles Parliament
We are very proud to have our very own School Parliament. Through our Parliament we hear the views of all pupils through a democratic process.
MPs (Members of Parliament)
We have Year 6 MPs (Members of Parliament) who work closely with the School Councillors. The MPs meet regularly with the Senior Leadership Team to share the views and opinions of all the children.
School Council
Our school council is a highly valued group of children who represent the voice and opinions of all the children within our school. The Council is made up of children from Years 1 - 6 who each have an MP to work alongside with. Through our School Council we aim to develop young leadership skills, whilst supporting student democracy. Most importantly, our strong team of Councillors aim to promote the well-being of the children within our inclusive school.
Our School Parliament focuses on:
- Children's Rights
- Working and learning together
- Learning about democracy
- Learning how to play a positive role model in our community
- Improving our school for everyone
This academic year, our St Giles' Parliament are focusing on:
- Lunchtimes: activities outside and inside and respect for property
- Safety: around the school and the playground
- Reading: class 'libraries' and peer reading
- Environment: travel to school, environmental projects
