Literacy Week 20th to 24th November 2017

Sarah Lloyd Winder from the National Literacy Trust came to tell Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 some traditional stories.

Author Visit

We were visited by best selling children’s author, Stuart Reid, who provided a very entertaining assembly and a workshop for the Year5/6 Class. We were able to ask him questions about being an author and he shared some of his work with us. We loved the comic content of his writing and spent lots of time discussing alliteration.

Vocabulary Dress Up Day

We dressed up as words! We could choose either nouns, adjectives or verbs. Most of us chose adjectives. We had a fashion parade to see which words we had chosen and had fun trying to make expanded noun phrases with people!

The Santa Trap

We also participated in the Herts For Learning “Take One Book” initiative. All the school used the book “The Santa Trap” by Jonathan Emmet as a topic for this week. We enjoyed the cross curricular approach that this has involved and produced lots of different genres of writing. We also enjoyed making our own Santa traps.
